Redmi Y1 launched in India

China's Xiaomi has launched its first selfie-centric smartphone series, Redmi Y, to counter companies like OPPOvivo and Nubia that have been focusing on the camera phone category in India
Under the new category, the company has launched two smartphones variants - Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite. 
These devices will be available through ecommerce major Amazon and Mi store from November 8, 2017. Furthermore, customers can purchase it from an offline channel. 
Redmi Y1 comes equipped with a 16 MP front camera, coupled with LED selfie flash, and 13 MP PDAF rear camera. It features 5.5 inch HD display, and is powered by QualcommSnapdragon 435 octa-core processor. 
The 3GB+32 GB storage variant is priced at Rs 8,999, whiel the 4GB and 64 GB variant is priced ta Rs 10,999. 
  The Redmi Y Lite features a 5.5 inch HD display, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor. It features 3080 mAh batteryir features 13MP rear camera. 
The 2GB + 16GB variant of Redmi Y 1 Lite is priced at Rs 6,999 in India. 
The company has also launched MIUI 9, which is the latest custom Android ROM, and will be available starting mid-November. 
Xiaomi has tied-up with Idea Cellular to offer 280 GB of free 4G data to customer buying these new smartphones.
